No buildings, just around 8 tents. We lived under leaking canvas during the monsoon season. The job was cutting through rock face. Cholera outbreak and many died. Col Lilley and Maj. Parsons (Sherwood Foresters) in charge. We worked shifts day and night. Camp knee deep in water and mud.

From Henry (No Surname) of Surrey

The springs which gave the camp its name were crystal clear, the prisoners used them for bathing in.
