After yesterday’s inspection the Camp Commandant issued the following instructions:

 

  1. Suitcases, etc., are not to be placed between the head of the bed and the wall. The head of the bed will be up against the wall. 

 

  1. Blankets when folded are to be placed on the bed with the rear edges level with the head of the bed; the Japanese pillow will be placed on the sheet, both being put on top of the blankets in front.

 

  1. Where there are two shelves, only the Japanese kit box and clothes will be placed on the lower shelf, all other articles being on the upper shelf. The kit box will be on the right of the shelf looking at it from the foot of the bed.

 

  1. From the time for which the inspection is ordered until told that the inspection is over, all POWs are to stand at the foot of their beds ready for inspection.

 

  1. In order to keep floors as clean as possible, dust, etc., should be knocked off boots and shoes before coming in from outside.
